1. Make the Cream Filling:

  1. In a large bowl, beat the cream cheese until smooth and fluffy using an electric mixer.
  2. Gradually add the powdered sugar and continue mixing until completely smooth with no lumps.
  3. Add the milk and vanilla extract, mixing until the texture becomes silky and pourable.

2. Fold in Whipped Topping:

  1. Using a spatula, gently fold the thawed whipped topping into the cream cheese mixture until just combined. Avoid overmixing to keep the texture light and airy.

3. Assemble the Dessert:

  1. In a trifle bowl, 9×13-inch baking dish, or large glass bowl, layer the dessert as follows:
    • First layer: Half of the angel food cake pieces
    • Second layer: Half of the cream cheese mixture
    • Third layer: Half of the cherry pie filling
    • Repeat layers with remaining cake, cream mixture, and cherry pie filling
