1. Make the Cream Filling:

2. Fold in Whipped Topping:
- Using a spatula, gently fold the thawed whipped topping into the cream cheese mixture until just combined. Avoid overmixing to keep the texture light and airy.
3. Assemble the Dessert:
- In a trifle bowl, 9×13-inch baking dish, or large glass bowl, layer the dessert as follows:
- First layer: Half of the angel food cake pieces
- Second layer: Half of the cream cheese mixture
- Third layer: Half of the cherry pie filling
- Repeat layers with remaining cake, cream mixture, and cherry pie filling
