Ingredients
This richly flavored chocolate cake uses simple pantry ingredients, yet delivers an ultra-moist texture and deep cocoa aroma. Each component plays a role in creating a tender crumb and a glossy, luxurious ganache topping.
- For the cake:
- 1 + ¾ cups flour
- ¾ cup cocoa powder (sifted)
- 1 + ½ teaspoons baking powder
- 1 + ½ teaspoons baking soda
- 1 pinch of salt
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup buttermilk (1 cup milk + 1 tbsp lemon juice, let sit for 5 min)
- ½ cup vegetable oil
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup hot coffee (deepens the cocoa flavor; hot water can be used instead)
- Chocolate Ganache Cream:
- 200 ml cream
- 200 g dark chocolate (chopped)
- 1 tbsp butter (for shine)
