Baked Apple Fritters (Quick & Easy)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven. Set your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat to prevent sticking and ensure even baking.
  2. Prepare the apples. Peel and chop the apples into small, bite-sized pieces. Make sure the apples are evenly chopped so they cook uniformly in the fritters.
  3. Mix the dry ingredients. In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt until everything is evenly combined.
  4. Combine wet ingredients. In another bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, and vanilla extract until smooth and fully blended.
  5. Make the batter. Gradually pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients, stirring gently until just combined. Do not overmix; the batter should be thick and slightly lumpy, with the dry ingredients absorbed. Fold in the chopped apples gently so they are evenly distributed throughout the batter.
  6. Spoon and bake. Drop spoonfuls of the batter onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart. Each spoonful should have a generous amount of apple pieces inside. Bake for 18–20 minutes, or until the fritters are golden brown and cooked through.
  7. Cool and serve. Let the fritters cool for a few minutes on the baking sheet before transferring them to a wire rack. Dust with powdered sugar, if desired, and serve warm.

Serving Notes

These Baked Apple Fritters are delicious on their own, but you can also serve them with a drizzle of caramel sauce, a dollop of whipped cream, or even a scoop of vanilla ice cream for a special treat. They’re perfect with a cup of coffee or tea for breakfast or an afternoon snack. Store any leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days, and reheat them in the oven for a few minutes to restore their crispness.
