Caramel Banana Nuts Tacos

Ingredients

For the Tortilla Shells:

  • 6 small flour tortillas (soft taco size)
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar

For the Filling:

  • 2 ripe bananas, sliced
  • 1/4 cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (such as walnuts, pecans, or almonds)
  • Whipped cream or vanilla ice cream (optional, for serving)

Instructions

  1. Start by making the tortilla shells. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Brush both sides of the flour tortillas with melted butter. Sprinkle the granulated sugar evenly over the tops of the tortillas.
  2. Place the buttered and sugared tortillas on a baking sheet, making sure they’re not overlapping. Bake them in the preheated oven for about 5-7 minutes, or until they become golden brown and crispy. Keep an eye on them to make sure they don’t burn. Once done, remove them from the oven and set them aside to cool slightly. These will form the crunchy taco shell for your dessert.
  3. While the tortilla shells are cooling, heat a skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced bananas to the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes, gently stirring to caramelize the bananas. After a few minutes, drizzle in the caramel sauce and continue to cook for another 1-2 minutes, stirring to coat the bananas evenly. The bananas should soften and become lightly golden, with the caramel sauce thickening slightly.
  4. Once the bananas are caramelized, remove them from the heat and prepare the taco shells. Gently bend each tortilla shell into a taco shape, either by hand or using a taco holder for support.
  5. Fill each taco shell with the caramelized bananas, spooning the bananas and caramel sauce into the shells. Top with a generous sprinkle of chopped nuts for added crunch and texture. If desired, add a dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top for extra indulgence.
