Caramel-Filled Chocolate Cake with Caramel Cream Frosting 🍫✨🍯

🍰 Ingredients

For the Chocolate Cake:

  • 2 cups (250 g) all-purpose flour
  • ΒΎ cup (75 g) cocoa powder
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1Β½ teaspoons baking soda
  • Β½ teaspoon salt
  • 1Β½ cups (300 g) granulated sugar
  • 1 cup (240 ml) vegetable oil
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup (240 ml) buttermilk (or milk + 1 tbsp vinegar)
  • 1 cup (240 ml) hot coffee or water
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

For the Caramel Filling:

  • 1 cup (200 g) granulated sugar
  • ΒΌ cup (60 ml) water
  • Β½ cup (120 ml) heavy cream or evaporated milk
  • 3 tablespoons (42 g) butter
  • Β½ teaspoon salt
  • Β½ teaspoon vanilla extract

For the Caramel Frosting (Cream):

  • 1 cup (227 g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 cups (360 g) powdered sugar
  • Β½ cup (120 ml) reserved caramel sauce
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • A pinch of salt
  • 2–3 tablespoons milk or cream (to adjust consistency)
