Directions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Allow the oven to fully reach temperature before baking so the cheese mixture cooks evenly and develops the right amount of browning around the edges. Using the correct heat helps the cheeses melt smoothly without burning.
- In a bowl, mix together the Parmesan cheese, mozzarella cheese, egg, and onion powder until well combined. Stir thoroughly to ensure the egg is fully incorporated; it acts as the binder that keeps the cheese mixture cohesive as it bakes. The mixture should appear uniform, sticky, and evenly seasoned.
- Spread the mixture evenly on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Use a spatula or the back of a spoon to press it into a thin, even layer so it bakes at the same rate from center to edges. The parchment prevents sticking and makes removing the baked sheet effortless.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes or until golden and bubbly. Watch for the surface to take on a light golden color and for the edges to crisp slightly—these are signs the cheeses have melted together fully and the egg has set. Avoid overbaking, as the cheese can become too hard.
- Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before cutting into pieces. A short cooling period allows the cheese to firm up just enough to slice cleanly without losing its shape. Cut into squares, strips, or bite-sized shapes as desired.
