- Start by preparing the gelatin mixture. In a small bowl, add the cold water and sprinkle the unflavored gelatin powder over the surface of the water. Let it sit for about 5 minutes. This will allow the gelatin to « bloom, » or absorb the water and become soft. This is an important step to ensure that your gummies have the perfect texture.
- While the gelatin is blooming, pour the Cherry Dr. Pepper and vanilla-flavored whiskey into a saucepan. Add the granulated sugar to the mixture and stir over medium heat until the sugar is dissolved and the mixture is warm. Do not bring it to a boil—just warm enough to dissolve the sugar completely and incorporate the flavors together.
- Once the sugar is dissolved, remove the saucepan from the heat and carefully add the bloomed gelatin mixture. Stir until the gelatin is completely dissolved and the mixture is smooth and well-combined. The heat from the liquid will help dissolve the gelatin, ensuring your gummies have a smooth consistency without any lumps.
