Cinnamon Roll Apple “Lasagna”

Pour half of the prepared apple filling over the first layer of cinnamon rolls, spreading it out evenly. Add a layer of the remaining cinnamon rolls over the apple filling, pressing them gently to create an even layer. Then, pour the rest of the apple filling over the top, making sure all the apples are evenly distributed throughout the dish.

Next, pour the heavy cream evenly over the top of the cinnamon rolls and apples. The cream will soak into the layers, creating a creamy, rich texture. Sprinkle the powdered sugar over the top for an extra touch of sweetness. This will create a beautiful golden crust on top once baked.

Bake the Cinnamon Roll Apple “Lasagna” in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the cinnamon rolls are golden brown and the filling is bubbling. You’ll know it’s done when the top is crispy and the apples are tender and caramelized.

Serving Suggestions

Once the dessert is baked, remove it from the oven and allow it to cool for a few minutes before serving. Drizzle the included icing (from the cinnamon roll cans) over the top of the lasagna, or make a quick glaze by mixing powdered sugar and a bit of milk for extra sweetness. Serve warm with a dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an indulgent treat!

Make-Ahead & Storage

This Cinnamon Roll Apple “Lasagna” can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, simply place it in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for 10-15 minutes until warmed through and the top becomes crispy again. You can also freeze it for up to 2 months. To freeze, let the lasagna cool completely, cover it tightly with plastic wrap and aluminum foil, and store it in the freezer. Thaw it overnight in the refrigerator before reheating.

Tips

  • If you prefer a thicker apple filling, you can add a bit more cornstarch or let the mixture simmer for a longer period of time to allow it to thicken.
  • For extra flavor, try adding chopped nuts (such as pecans or walnuts) to the apple filling for a bit of crunch and richness.
  • If you don’t have lemon juice, a splash of orange juice works as a great alternative to add a citrusy note to the apple filling.
