Classic Powdered Sugar Cookies

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven. Set your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper. This prevents the cookies from sticking and helps them bake evenly.
  2. Make the dough. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and powdered sugar until smooth and fluffy. This should take about 2-3 minutes of mixing. Gradually add the flour, mixing until a soft dough forms. The dough will be slightly sticky but manageable.
  3. Shape the cookies. Roll the dough into small balls, about 1 inch in diameter, and place them about 2 inches apart on the prepared baking sheets. Flatten each ball slightly with the back of a fork or the bottom of a glass to create a decorative pattern on top of the cookies.
  4. Bake the cookies. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges of the cookies are just lightly golden. Keep an eye on them as the time may vary depending on your oven. Once baked, remove them from the oven and allow them to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
