Classic Southern Cornbread Dressing

Using a bulb baster, gradually add turkey giblet broth. Stir gently between additions. Stop when the mixture becomes very moist—almost wet—but still cohesive. The dressing should feel soft and saturated, as the broth is what keeps it moist while baking.

  • Add the eggs. Stir in the beaten eggs, mixing until fully incorporated. The eggs help bind the dressing and provide structure once baked.
  • Transfer and bake. Scrape the mixture into a large greased baking dish, spreading it evenly. Bake in a 400°F oven for 30–40 minutes, or until the top is nicely browned and the dressing is set in the center. The edges will become lightly crisp while the inside remains moist and flavorful.
  • Serving Notes

This dressing is best served hot, fresh from the oven, with turkey, gravy, and traditional holiday sides. If making ahead, it reheats well and retains its moisture beautifully. Leftovers are excellent alongside roasted meats or enjoyed on their own.
