Instructions
1. Cook the Spaghetti
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
- Cook spaghetti until al dente according to package instructions. Drain and set aside, reserving ½ cup of pasta water.
2. Make the Sauce
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add onion and cook until soft, 4–5 minutes.
- Add garlic and cook for another 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Stir in tomato paste, crushed tomatoes, basil, oregano, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes if using.
- Simmer for 10–15 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add reserved pasta water if the sauce needs thinning.
3. Combine & Serve
