Creamy Chicken Mac and Cheese 🍗🧀

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1️⃣ Cook the Pasta

  • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook elbow macaroni according to package directions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

2️⃣ Cook the Chicken

  1. Season chicken with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil or butter over medium heat.
  3. Add the chicken and cook for 6–8 minutes, or until golden brown and fully cooked through. Remove from heat and set aside.

3️⃣ Make the Cheese Sauce

  1. In a large saucepan or deep skillet, melt 2 tablespoons butter over medium heat.
  2. Whisk in the flour and cook for 1–2 minutes, stirring constantly, to form a roux.
  3. Slowly whisk in milk and cream, making sure there are no lumps.
  4. Simmer gently for 3–5 minutes until slightly thickened.
  5. Stir in shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheeses until melted and smooth. Add paprika or mustard powder, if using.
