Crispy Cheesy Hash Browns

  1. Serve and enjoy: Once the crispy cheesy hash browns are done, remove them from the skillet and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil. Serve the hash browns immediately while they are hot and crispy. They make an excellent side dish for breakfast or brunch, and they pair wonderfully with eggs, bacon, or sausage. You can even top them with sour cream, a drizzle of hot sauce, or extra shredded cheese for a more indulgent meal.

Notes

  • If you prefer extra crispy hash browns, you can cook them for a bit longer on each side. Just be careful not to burn them, and be sure the insides cook through.
  • For a slightly different flavor, you can experiment with different cheeses, such as mozzarella for a stringy texture, or even a blend of cheeses for added depth of flavor.
  • These hash browns are great for meal prep! After cooking, allow them to cool completely and store them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in a hot skillet for a couple of minutes on each side to restore their crispy texture.
  • If you want to make these hash browns in a larger batch, you can also bake them in the oven. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C), spread the potato mixture in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, and bake for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through for even crispiness.
