Crispy Fried Chicken with Homemade Coleslaw

Ingredients

  • For the Fried Chicken:
    • 3 pieces of chicken (2 legs, 1 thigh)
    • 1 egg
    • 1 tablespoon hot sauce
    • ½ teaspoon Adobo seasoning
    • Seasoned Flour Coating:
    • ½ teaspoon black pepper
    • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
    • ½ teaspoon onion powder
    • ½ teaspoon Cajun seasoning
    • ½ teaspoon Mrs. Dash seasoning
    • ½ teaspoon Italian seasoning
    • ½ teaspoon paprika
    • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
    • 1 teaspoon cornmeal
    • 1 cup all-purpose flour
    • For Frying:
    • Corn oil (or vegetable oil or peanut oil)
    • Oil for frying (heated to 350°F)
  • For the Coleslaw:
    • 1 bag coleslaw mix (store-bought)
    • ½ cup mayonnaise
    • 1 teaspoon onion powder
    • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
    • 1 tablespoon vinegar
    • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
    • 1 teaspoon black pepper
    • 1 tablespoon sugar (to balance the acidity)
