Custard Cake with Creamy Flan Base

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1. Prepare the Custard Layer

  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the evaporated milk, condensed milk, eggs, and vanilla until completely smooth and well blended. Set aside.

2. Make the Cake Batter

  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, and baking powder.
  • Add the melted butter, milk, eggs, and vanilla extract. Stir until smooth and lump-free. Do not overmix—just combine until even.

3. Assemble

  • Grease a deep baking pan (about 8 or 9 inches wide).
  • Pour the custard mixture into the pan first.
  • Carefully pour the cake batter on top of the custard layer. Pour slowly over a spoon or the back of a spatula to prevent disturbing the custard underneath.

    4. Bake in a Water Bath
