Decadent Caramel Peppermint Trifle

Instructions

  1. Prepare the jelly. Follow the instructions on the packet to prepare the green jelly. Set it aside to chill and firm up in the refrigerator until it’s fully set.
  2. Prepare the trifle layers. Slice the Swiss roll or sponge cake into even pieces and set aside. If you’re using custard, prepare it according to your preferred recipe or packaging instructions.
  3. Assemble the trifle. In a trifle bowl, begin by layering the set jelly at the bottom. Follow this with a layer of the sliced sponge cake or Swiss roll. If you’re using custard, spread a thin layer of it over the sponge cake before adding the next layer.
  4. Mix the caramel and whipped cream. In a separate bowl, mix together the caramel treat and whipped cream until smooth and creamy. Then fold in the crushed Peppermint Crisp bar. This creates a rich, flavorful mixture that will be layered over the cake and jelly.
  5. Layer the caramel mixture. Spoon the caramel, whipped cream, and peppermint chocolate mixture over the cake and jelly layers. Spread it evenly to cover the entire surface. Repeat the layers (jelly, cake, caramel mixture) until you’ve used up the ingredients, ending with the caramel mixture on top.
  6. Chill the trifle. Cover the trifle bowl and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight if possible, to allow the flavors to meld and the layers to set together.
  7. Serve and enjoy! Just before serving, garnish with any remaining crushed Peppermint Crisp bar for an extra crunch. Scoop out the trifle into bowls and enjoy this indulgent treat!
