Ingredients
- 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 cup cooked bacon, crumbled (about 4 slices)
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or your favorite cheese)
- 1 package refrigerated crescent roll dough (or pizza dough)
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
Instructions
- Start by preheating your oven to 375°F (190°C). If you’re using refrigerated crescent roll dough, unroll the dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. If you’re using pizza dough, roll it out into a rectangle, ensuring it’s about 1/8 inch thick to allow for easy rolling. The dough should be evenly rolled out to create a perfect base for the rollups.
- In a large skillet, heat a little oil or butter over medium heat. Add the finely chopped onion and sauté for about 2-3 minutes, or until the onion becomes soft and translucent. This will bring out the natural sweetness in the onion, which complements the savory beef.
- Add the ground beef to the skillet with the onions, breaking it apart with a spoon or spatula as it cooks. Continue to cook the beef until it is browned and fully cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess fat from the skillet and season the beef with salt and black pepper to taste. Stir the mixture well to combine the seasonings with the beef and onions.
- Once the beef mixture is cooked, remove it from the heat. Stir in the crumbled bacon and shredded cheddar cheese, mixing until the cheese begins to melt into the beef mixture. The bacon adds a crunchy, smoky flavor, and the melted cheese creates a gooey, comforting filling.
