Garlic Butter Baked Scallops

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). This temperature is perfect for baking the scallops evenly, allowing them to cook through while developing a golden, crispy top.
  2. Prepare the Scallops: Pat the scallops dry with a paper towel to remove any excess moisture. This is important because dry scallops will sear and bake more evenly. Arrange the scallops in a single layer on a baking dish, making sure they are not overcrowded for optimal cooking.
  3. Make the Garlic Butter Sauce: In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, minced garlic, and freshly squeezed lemon juice. Stir to mix everything together, creating a flavorful garlic butter sauce that will coat the scallops as they bake.
  4. Top the Scallops: Pour the garlic butter mixture over the scallops, making sure each scallop is well-coated in the sauce. Sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese evenly over the top of each scallop. This will create a delicious, golden crust when baked.
  5. Bake the Scallops: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the scallops are opaque and slightly firm to the touch. The Parmesan should be melted and golden brown, and the garlic butter will have infused the scallops with flavor. Be careful not to overbake, as scallops can become rubbery when cooked too long.
  6. Garnish and Serve: Once the scallops are done baking, remove the dish from the oven and garnish with freshly chopped parsley for a pop of color and freshness. Serve the garlic butter baked scallops immediately, either on their own or with a side of crusty bread, rice, or a light salad.
