Grandma’s Old-Fashioned Bread Pudding with Vanilla Sauce Recipe

Ingredients

  • For the Bread Pudding:
    • 6 cups day-old bread, cubed (white bread or challah work well)
    • 2 cups whole milk
    • 1 cup heavy cream
    • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
    • 4 large eggs
    • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
    • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • 1/4 teaspoon salt
    • 1/2 cup raisins (optional, but recommended for added sweetness and texture)
    • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • For the Vanilla Sauce:
    • 1 cup whole milk
    • 1/2 cup heavy cream
    • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
