Instructions
1. Preheat & Prepare
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line an 8×8-inch square baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang for easy removal.
2. Combine Dry Ingredients
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
3. Mix Wet Ingredients
- In a large mixing bowl, combine melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar. Whisk until smooth and slightly glossy, about 1 minute.
- Whisk in eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
4. Combine & Fold
- Gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture using a rubber spatula. Mix just until no streaks remain — do not overmix.
- Fold in chocolate chips and chopped cherries. The batter will be thick and rich.
