Memaw’s Cathead Biscuits Recipe

Notes

  • If you prefer to roll the dough out, you can do so on a floured surface. Roll it to about 1-inch thickness, then cut out the biscuits using a round cutter. However, hand-rolling them as Memaw did gives them a unique texture and rustic look.
  • For a richer flavor, you can substitute buttermilk with cream or milk, but the texture and flavor may not be as tender and tangy as when using buttermilk.
  • These biscuits are perfect for making biscuit sandwiches, so feel free to add a fried egg, sausage, or bacon for a truly Southern breakfast.
  • If you have leftovers, store the biscuits in an airtight container. Reheat them in the oven or microwave before serving for the best texture.
