Mexican Christmas Cookies (Cozy, Buttery & Dusted with Sugar)

Bake

  1. Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the edges are just beginning to turn golden. The centers should remain soft and pale for a tender bite.

Coat in Sugar

  1. While still warm, roll the cookies in powdered sugar, or in a mixture of granulated sugar and cinnamon for extra crunch and spice.
  2. Place the cookies on a wire rack and allow them to cool completely. The coating will set as they cool, forming a delicate, sweet crust.

Tips & Variations

  • Add finely chopped pecans or almonds to the dough for a nutty flavor and subtle crunch.
  • Swap orange zest with lemon for a brighter citrus contrast to the warm cinnamon notes.
  • Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week. They also freeze beautifully for longer storage.
  • Dust with extra powdered sugar before serving for a festive, snowy finish—perfect for cookie platters and gift boxes.
