Pinto Bean Pie

Bake the Pie:

Place the pie in the preheated oven and bake for 35–40 minutes. You’ll know the pie is done when the center is set and no longer jiggles when gently shaken. The edges of the crust should be golden brown, and the filling will have a smooth, slightly firm texture. If you insert a knife or toothpick into the center of the pie, it should come out clean or with just a few moist crumbs, but not wet batter. It’s essential to monitor the pie as it bakes to avoid overbaking, which could cause the filling to dry out.

Cool the Pie:

Once the pie is fully baked, remove it from the oven and let it cool for about an hour. This cooling period allows the filling to set completely and firm up, making it easier to slice. The pie should be served at room temperature, though it can also be enjoyed slightly chilled for a firmer texture. During the cooling process, you may notice a slight puffing or settling of the pie—this is normal and adds to its smooth texture.
