1οΈβ£ Prepare the Strawberry Mixture
- In a small saucepan, combine the fresh strawberries and sugar (if using). Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, for 5β7 minutes, until the strawberries are softened and release their juices.
- Use a spoon to mash the strawberries into a puree, or blend with an immersion blender for a smoother texture. Set aside.
2οΈβ£ Heat the Milk and Cream
- In a separate saucepan, combine the whole milk and heavy cream. Heat over medium heat until steaming but not boiling. Stir occasionally to prevent burning.
3οΈβ£ Make the Hot Chocolate
- Once the milk mixture is hot, add the semi-sweet chocolate chips and stir until theyβre fully melted and the mixture is smooth.
- Stir in the vanilla extract (if using) and the mashed strawberry mixture. Mix well until the chocolate and strawberry flavors are fully combined.
- Taste and adjust sweetness by adding more sugar if desired.
4οΈβ£ Serve
- Pour the strawberry hot chocolate into mugs.
- Top with whipped cream and garnish with fresh strawberry slices for an extra special touch.
