Strawberry Shortcake Puppy Chow Recipe

Ingredients

• 5 cups Rice Chex cereal
• 1 cup white chocolate chips
• 1/2 cup peanut butter
• 1/2 cup freeze-dried strawberries (crushed into powder)
• 1/4 cup powdered sugar

Directions

1. Prepare the Cereal: In a large mixing bowl, pour in 5 cups of Rice Chex cereal. Set aside. This will serve as the base for your Strawberry Shortcake Puppy Chow.
2. Melt the Chocolate and Peanut Butter: In a microwave-safe bowl, combine 1 cup of white chocolate chips and 1/2 cup of peanut butter. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until the mixture is smooth and fully melted. Be careful not to overheat it, as white chocolate can burn easily. Once melted, stir to combine the chocolate and peanut butter until smooth and creamy.
3. Add the Strawberry Flavor: Crush the 1/2 cup of freeze-dried strawberries into a fine powder. You can do this by placing them in a plastic bag and using a rolling pin, or using a food processor. Add the crushed strawberries to the melted white chocolate and peanut butter mixture. Stir until fully incorporated. The strawberry powder will give the puppy chow its sweet, fruity flavor and beautiful pink color.
4. Coat the Cereal: Pour the strawberry-chocolate-peanut butter mixture over the Rice Chex cereal. Gently stir to coat all the cereal pieces evenly with the mixture. Be sure to fold the mixture carefully to prevent the cereal from breaking.
5. Coat with Powdered Sugar: Once the cereal is fully coated, sprinkle 1/4 cup of powdered sugar over the mixture. Cover the bowl with a lid or plastic wrap, and shake gently to coat the cereal evenly with the sugar. The powdered sugar will give the Puppy Chow its signature sweet, crunchy coating.
6. Serve: Once the Strawberry Shortcake Puppy Chow is fully coated, spread it out on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper to cool. After it’s cooled, serve immediately, or store in an airtight container for up to 3 days. This snack is perfect for sharing and will be gone in no time!
