Stuffed Jalapeño Bites

Instructions

  1. Preheat: Set oven to 400°F (200°C) or air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil.
  2. Prepare Jalapeños: Slice jalapeños in half lengthwise and remove seeds and membranes. Use gloves or wash hands thoroughly afterward to avoid irritation.
  3. Make the Filling: In a bowl, combine cream cheese, shredded cheese, green onions, garlic powder, and optional bacon or sausage. Mix until smooth and creamy.
  4. Fill: Spoon or pipe the cheese mixture into each jalapeño half, slightly mounding the filling for extra creaminess.
  5. Top: Sprinkle each with panko breadcrumbs or additional cheese for a crisp, golden finish.
  6. Cook:
    • Oven: Bake for 18–20 minutes, until golden and bubbly.
    • Air Fryer: Cook for 8–10 minutes at 375°F, until the tops are crisp and lightly browned.
  7. Serve: Let cool for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh herbs like parsley or cilantro for extra color and flavor.

Tips for Perfect Jalapeño Bites

  • Adjust the heat: Leave a few seeds in if you love extra spice; remove all for a milder bite.
  • Make ahead: Assemble the bites up to a day in advance, cover, and refrigerate until ready to bake.
  • For extra crunch: Lightly spray the tops with oil before baking to help the breadcrumbs crisp up beautifully.
  • Customize: Add chopped herbs, hot sauce, or swap in different cheeses like Monterey Jack or mozzarella for unique variations.
