Texas Roadhouse Butter Chicken Skillet Recipe

Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup chicken broth
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Directions

  1. Prepare the Chicken: Start by seasoning the 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts with salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder. These spices will give the chicken a flavorful base that enhances the rich buttery sauce. Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Cook the Chicken: Once the skillet is hot, add the seasoned chicken breasts to the pan. Cook the chicken for about 6-7 minutes on each side, or until the chicken is golden brown and fully cooked through, with an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C). Once the chicken is cooked, remove it from the skillet and set it aside on a plate.
  3. Make the Butter Sauce: In the same skillet, reduce the heat to medium. Add 1/2 cup of unsalted butter to the pan and let it melt, scraping up any brown bits left from the chicken for extra flavor. Once the butter is melted, add the 3 cloves of minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute, or until fragrant. Be careful not to burn the garlic, as it can become bitter.
  4. Add the Liquid: Pour in 1/4 cup of chicken broth and 1 tablespoon of fresh lemon juice. Stir to combine and let the sauce simmer for 2-3 minutes to allow the flavors to blend and the sauce to thicken slightly. The chicken broth adds depth to the sauce, while the lemon juice brightens the flavors.
  5. Return the Chicken to the Skillet: Once the sauce is ready, return the cooked chicken breasts to the skillet. Spoon the sauce over the chicken to coat it well. Let the chicken simmer in the sauce for another 2-3 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld and the chicken to absorb some of the sauce.
  6. Finish and Serve: Once the chicken is fully coated and heated through, sprinkle the dish with freshly chopped parsley for a pop of color and freshness. Serve the Texas Roadhouse Butter Chicken Skillet immediately, with your choice of side dishes such as rice, mashed potatoes, or steamed vegetables.
