Ingredients
- 1 lb (450g) ground beef (80/20 for juicy flavor)
- 1 small onion, finely diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 packet taco seasoning (or homemade seasoning blend)
- 1/2 cup water (for taco seasoning)
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded lettuce
- 2-3 large flour tortillas (one large and one slightly smaller to fit inside)
- Pickles, sliced (optional, for added flavor)
- Tomato slices (optional, for added freshness)
- Olive oil or butter, for grilling
Instructions
- Start by heating a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook, breaking it apart with a spoon or spatula as it browns. Cook for about 6-8 minutes until the beef is fully cooked and no longer pink. Once cooked, drain any excess fat and stir in the diced onion and minced garlic. Continue cooking for 2-3 more minutes until the onions soften and become translucent, and the garlic becomes fragrant.
- Next, add the taco seasoning and water to the beef mixture. Stir everything together until the seasoning is fully incorporated and the mixture is well-coated with the seasoning. Let it simmer for about 3-5 minutes, or until the sauce thickens and the beef absorbs all the flavors. Taste the mixture and adjust the seasoning with more salt, pepper, or seasoning mix if needed.
- While the beef mixture is simmering, prepare your tortillas. You’ll need two flour tortillas: one large (about 10 inches) and one smaller (about 6 inches). Lay the large tortilla flat on a clean surface, and spoon a generous amount of the seasoned beef mixture in the center of the tortilla. Top with a handful of shredded cheddar cheese, then add your desired toppings such as sliced pickles, tomatoes, and shredded lettuce. This will form the flavorful base of your crunch wrap.
