Step 4: Adjust Consistency and Serve
If the frosting is too thick, add more cream or milk, one tablespoon at a time, until you reach your desired consistency. If the frosting is too thin, you can add more powdered sugar, a little at a time, until it thickens up. Once it’s perfect, use the frosting immediately to ice cakes, cupcakes, or cookies. If you’re not using it right away, you can store the frosting in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or refrigerate it for up to a week. Let it come to room temperature before using if refrigerated.
