Instructions
Step 1: Brown the Butter
- In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Continue cooking, stirring often, until the butter foams, then turns golden brown with a nutty aroma and small brown bits at the bottom (about 5–7 minutes).
- Remove from heat and pour into a large mixing bowl. Let cool for 10–15 minutes until just warm, not hot.
Step 2: Mix Wet Ingredients
- Add the brown sugar and granulated sugar to the browned butter. Stir until smooth and combined.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract. Mix until glossy and slightly thickened.
Step 3: Add Dry Ingredients
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined (do not overmix).
- Fold in chocolate chips evenly.
