Step 1: Bake the Cake
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
- Prepare and bake the yellow cake according to box directions.
- While cake is still warm, use the handle of a wooden spoon to poke holes all over the top of the cake, about 1 inch apart.
Step 2: Make the Filling
- In a bowl, whisk together sweetened condensed milk, heavy cream, and butter extract (if using).
- Slowly pour the mixture evenly over the warm cake, letting it soak into the holes.
- Allow the cake to cool completely in the pan, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours to set.
