1️⃣ Prepare the Baking Dish
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter or nonstick spray to prevent sticking and ensure easy serving later.
2️⃣ Assemble the Layers
- Pour the cherry pie filling evenly into the bottom of the prepared baking dish, spreading it out with a spatula so the fruit covers the base completely.
- Sprinkle the dry chocolate cake mix directly over the cherry filling, ensuring an even layer — do not stir.
- Scatter the semi-sweet chocolate chips evenly across the top of the dry cake mix for added richness and a melty chocolate finish.
3️⃣ Add the Liquid Mixture
- In a small bowl, whisk together the melted butter and milk until well combined.
- Pour this mixture evenly over the top of the chocolate chips and cake mix. Resist the urge to stir — this “dump” method allows the layers to bake into a gooey, self-saucing dessert.
