Instructions
1️⃣ Prepare the Pan
- Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) with top and bottom heat, or 160°C (320°F) for fan/convection ovens.
- Grease a 25 cm (10-inch) loaf pan with butter, dust with flour, and tap out any excess to ensure an easy release after baking.
2️⃣ Make the Vanilla Batter
- In a large mixing bowl, beat together the softened butter, sugar, and salt using a hand mixer on high speed for about 2 minutes, or until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. This helps create a smooth, creamy batter.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and baking powder.
- Add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture alternately with the milk, mixing on low speed until just combined. The batter should be smooth and slightly thick.
3️⃣ Make the Cocoa Batter
- Scoop out about one-third of the vanilla batter and transfer it to a separate bowl.
- In a small bowl, mix the cocoa powder, vanilla sugar, and 2 tablespoons of milk until smooth.
- Add this cocoa mixture to the reserved vanilla batter and stir until fully combined and evenly colored.
4️⃣ Layer and Swirl
- Spoon half of the vanilla batter into the prepared loaf pan and spread evenly.
- Top with half of the cocoa batter, spreading gently with a spatula.
- Repeat with the remaining vanilla and cocoa batters.
- Using a fork or skewer, gently swirl through the layers in a figure-eight motion to create the marble pattern. Do not overmix — a few swirls are enough for a beautiful effect.
5️⃣ Bake the Cake
