1. Prepare the Cake Layers:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line two 8-inch (20 cm) cake pans.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In another bowl, whisk together sugar, eggs, buttermilk, oil, and vanilla until smooth.
- Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture.
- Slowly pour in the hot coffee and mix until the batter is smooth and runny.
- Divide evenly between pans and bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Cool completely, then slice each cake horizontally to create 4 layers total.
2. Prepare the Mocha Cream:
- In a large bowl, whip cold cream until slightly thickened.
- Add mascarpone and beat until fluffy and thick.
- Add powdered sugar, dissolved coffee, and vanilla. Whip until mousse-like consistency forms. Chill until ready to use.
