Classic Steak and Baked Potatoes – A Timeless Dinner Combo

Instructions

1. Bake the Potatoes

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Scrub potatoes clean and pat dry. Prick several times with a fork.
  3. Rub with olive oil or butter and sprinkle with salt.
  4. Place directly on oven rack or on a baking sheet and bake for 45–60 minutes, or until fork-tender and skins are crispy.

2. Cook the Steak

  1. Let steaks come to room temperature (about 30 minutes). Pat dry with paper towels.
  2. Rub with olive oil and season generously with salt and pepper.
  3. Pan-sear method: Heat a heavy skillet or cast iron pan over high heat. Sear steaks for 3–4 minutes per side for medium-rare, adjusting based on thickness. Add butter, garlic, and herbs in the last minute, spooning over the top.
  4. Grill method: Preheat grill to high. Sear steaks 3–4 minutes per side, then rest.
