Crockpot Turkey Cranberry

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs turkey breast or tenderloin
  • 1 can whole berry cranberry sauce (14 oz)
  • 1 packet onion soup mix
  • 1/2 cup orange juice
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • Salt & pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Lightly season the turkey breast or tenderloin with salt and pepper. This step enhances the flavor of the turkey before cooking it in the crockpot.
  2. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add a small amount of oil or butter, then place the turkey in the skillet. Sear the turkey for about 2-3 minutes per side until it turns golden brown. This quick searing step locks in the juices and adds a depth of flavor to the turkey. Once browned, transfer the turkey to the crockpot.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix together the cranberry sauce, onion soup mix, orange juice, chicken broth, and brown sugar. Stir until the mixture is well combined and the brown sugar dissolves. The cranberry sauce provides sweetness, while the orange juice adds a bright, citrusy flavor to balance the savory onion soup mix.
  4. Pour the cranberry mixture over the turkey in the crockpot, ensuring that the turkey is well-coated with the sauce.
  5. Cover the crockpot and cook on LOW for 6-7 hours, or until the turkey is tender and easily shreds with a fork. The long, slow cooking process allows the turkey to absorb the flavors of the cranberry sauce and broth, making it incredibly juicy and flavorful.
