Easy Chocolate Cake in One Bowl Recipe

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven and Prepare the Pan
    1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
  2. Mix the Dry Ingredients
    1. In a large mixing bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. This ensures the dry ingredients are well combined and helps prevent lumps in the batter.
  3. Add the Wet Ingredients
    1. Add the egg, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Mix everything together using a spatula or an electric mixer on low speed until just combined. Be sure to scrape down the sides of the bowl to incorporate all the ingredients.
  4. Add the Boiling Water
    1. Gradually add the boiling water to the batter. The batter will be thin, but this is normal and helps create a moist, tender cake.
  5. Bake the Cake
    1. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan. Tap the pan gently on the counter to remove any air bubbles.
    2. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Be careful not to overbake; the cake should remain soft and moist.
  6. Cool the Cake
    1. Once the cake is done, remove it from the oven and allow it to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Then, transfer the cake to a wire rack to cool completely before frosting or serving.
  7. Serve and Enjoy
    1. Once the cake has cooled, frost it with your favorite chocolate frosting, whipped cream, or serve it plain with a dusting of powdered sugar. Slice and enjoy!
