Instructions
1️⃣ Combine Dry Ingredients
- In a mixing bowl, sift together the flour, salt, pepper (if using), and baking powder. Whisk or stir to evenly distribute the leavening and seasoning. The flour mixture should be light and uniform in color, with no clumps.
2️⃣ Combine Wet Ingredients
- In a separate bowl, mix the beaten egg with the melted butter. Make sure the butter is warm but not hot to avoid cooking the egg.
3️⃣ Make the Dumpling Dough
- Pour the egg and butter mixture into the dry ingredients.
- Add the milk gradually, mixing gently until a soft, semi-stiff dough forms. The dough should be thick enough to hold its shape on a spoon but not overly dry. Do not overmix—just stir until combined to avoid dense dumplings.
4️⃣ Cook the Dumplings
