Homemade Easy Cheesy Pizza Pockets

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup pizza or marinara sauce (thick sauces prevent leaking)
  • 1/2 cup mini pepperoni slices (optional but classic)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat to prevent the pizza pockets from sticking and to make cleanup easier.
  2. In a small bowl, mix the shredded mozzarella cheese and pizza or marinara sauce together until the cheese is well coated with the sauce. This ensures the cheese will melt smoothly inside the pockets.
  3. If you’re using mini pepperoni slices, fold them into the cheese and sauce mixture. If you prefer other toppings, feel free to add vegetables, sausage, or whatever you enjoy on pizza!
  4. Unroll or flatten your pizza dough on a lightly floured surface. You can use store-bought pizza dough for ease or make your own dough from scratch. Roll it out into a flat, even sheet and cut it into small squares or circles, depending on your preferred pocket size.
  5. Place a spoonful of the cheesy sauce mixture onto the center of each dough square or circle. Be sure to leave a small border around the edges to allow for sealing. Fold the dough over to form a pocket, pressing the edges together to seal them tightly. You can crimp the edges with a fork to ensure the pockets stay closed while baking.
  6. Place the prepared pizza pockets on the baking sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and the cheese is melted inside. The pockets should be slightly puffed up and crispy on the outside.
