Homemade Easy Cheesy Pizza Pockets

Ingredients

  • 1 can refrigerated crescent roll dough (or pizza dough)
  • 1/2 cup pizza sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Optional Toppings:

  • Mini pepperoni slices
  • Sausage or ground beef
  • Chopped vegetables (such as bell peppers, onions, or mushrooms)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). If you’re using pizza dough instead of crescent roll dough, roll it out into a flat rectangle on a lightly floured surface. If you’re using crescent roll dough, unroll the dough and separate it into individual triangles or squares, depending on the shape you prefer for your pizza pockets.
  2. On a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, arrange the dough pieces in a single layer. If you’re using pizza dough, you can cut it into squares or circles to create pockets that will hold the filling. Each piece of dough should be large enough to hold a spoonful of pizza sauce and cheese without spilling.
  3. Spread a small spoonful of pizza sauce onto the center of each piece of dough, leaving a border around the edges to allow for sealing. Be careful not to add too much sauce, as this can cause the pockets to leak during baking. If you like, you can sprinkle a little dried oregano or basil on top of the sauce for added flavor.
  4. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese on top of the pizza sauce. Be generous with the cheese, but avoid overfilling, as the cheese needs space to melt properly inside the pocket.
  5. If you’d like to add other pizza toppings, such as mini pepperoni slices or chopped vegetables, sprinkle them on top of the cheese. Be creative—this is where you can make these pockets your own! Just make sure not to overstuff the pockets, as they need to close tightly.
  6. Fold the dough over the filling to create a pocket, pinching the edges together to seal. You can use a fork to crimp the edges and ensure they stay closed while baking. The goal is to make sure none of the cheese or sauce can escape during cooking.
