Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly butter or grease a 9.5-inch pie plate to ensure easy removal after baking.
- Blend the Ingredients: Place all the ingredients — melted butter, eggs, sugar, salt, milk, vanilla extract, and flour — into a blender or food processor. Blend for about 30 seconds, or until smooth and fully combined. The batter will be thin, which is exactly how it should be.
- Pour and Sprinkle: Pour the blended mixture into the prepared pie plate. Sprinkle a light dusting of nutmeg evenly across the top. The nutmeg not only adds flavor but also gives the pie a warm, old-fashioned aroma as it bakes.
- Bake: Place the pie plate in the center of the preheated oven and bake for 45 minutes, or until the custard is set and the top is lightly golden. The pie is done when a knife inserted near the center comes out clean and the middle has just a slight jiggle.
- Cool and Serve: Remove from the oven and allow the pie to cool completely on a wire rack. As it cools, the custard will firm up slightly, and you’ll notice that it has formed its own delicate crust — a golden layer that makes this dessert so special.
