Muddy Buddy Rice Krispies

Ingredients

  • 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  • 2 cups chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar (shaken or 1/2 cup sprinkled)

Instructions

  1. Prepare all your ingredients before you begin. Measure out the Rice Krispies cereal, chocolate chips, peanut butter, unsalted butter, and vanilla extract to make the process smoother. Having everything ready to go will help you move quickly, as the recipe comes together fast.
  2. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the chocolate chips and peanut butter. Microwave the mixture in 30-second intervals, stirring after each one to ensure it melts evenly. Continue microwaving and stirring until the mixture is smooth and fully combined, which should take about 1-2 minutes depending on the power of your microwave.
  3. Once the chocolate and peanut butter are melted and smooth, add the unsalted butter and vanilla extract to the mixture. Stir well to combine all the ingredients. The butter will make the mixture creamy and smooth, while the vanilla extract adds a subtle warmth to the flavor.
  4. In a large mixing bowl, pour the Rice Krispies cereal. Then, gently fold the melted chocolate-peanut butter mixture into the cereal. Make sure to fold carefully to coat the cereal evenly without crushing it. The Rice Krispies should be fully coated in the rich, chocolatey peanut butter mixture.
  5. Spread the coated cereal mixture onto a baking sheet or into a pan, pressing it down gently to form an even layer. Allow it to cool and set for about 30 minutes at room temperature. You can place it in the refrigerator to speed up the cooling process if you’re in a hurry, but make sure it has cooled completely before cutting.
