1. Prep and Preheat:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 8-inch (20 cm) round cake pans and line the bottoms with parchment paper for easy release.
2. Mix the Dry Ingredients:
- Sift the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt into a medium bowl. Set aside.
3. Mix the Wet Ingredients:
- In a large bowl, beat together the sugar, vegetable oil, milk, eggs, vanilla extract, apple cider vinegar, and red food coloring until smooth and fully combined.
4. Combine:
- Add the dry ingredients to the wet and mix until the batter is smooth and lump-free. Do not overmix.
5. Bake:
- Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans.
- Bake for 25ā30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
