Peanut Butter Earthquake Cake with Creamy Swirls

🥣 Preparation

1️⃣ Prepare the Cake Batter

  1. Mix the chocolate cake mix with the eggs, oil, and water/milk.Blend until the mixture turns smooth and glossy. If making the homemade mix, ensure all dry ingredients are fully combined before adding the wet ones to avoid lumps.
  2. Mix until you have a smooth cake batter. The batter should be pourable and free of dry streaks. Avoid overmixing to keep the cake tender.
  3. Pour into a greased 23×33 cm rectangular baking pan.Greasing the pan ensures easy release and helps the creamy topping settle naturally into the chocolate batter during baking.

2️⃣ Prepare the Cream Layer

  1. Soften the cream cheese with a mixer.Beat until completely smooth and free of any lumps, creating a silky base.
  2. Add the melted butter and continue beating. The mixture will become richer and slightly more fluid, preparing it for the sugar.
  3. Add the powdered sugar to obtain a thick but pourable cream.Mix until creamy and uniform. The consistency should allow spooning without fully spreading on its own.
  4. Spoon this cream over the cake batter (do not spread completely, it should remain in waves). The uneven distribution creates pockets of cream that sink and swirl during baking, forming the signature effect.
