Instructions
1️⃣ Prepare the Batter:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the melted butter and sugar until smooth and glossy.
- Add the eggs, one at a time, whisking well after each addition. Stir in the red food coloring and vanilla extract until fully combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients into the wet mixture and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Fold in the chocolate chips, if using.
2️⃣ Bake:
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
- Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs. Do not overbake — you want them fudgy!
- Let cool completely in the pan before slicing or adding the topping.
