Directions
1️⃣ Prepare the Dough
- Mix the warm milk and yeast in a bowl. Let the mixture stand for about 5 minutes until the yeast becomes foamy on the surface. This indicates that it has activated properly and will help the dough rise well.
- Add the sugar, melted butter, eggs, and salt. Stir until everything is fully combined; the mixture should look smooth and slightly thickened.
- Gradually add the flour, stirring as you go until the dough begins to come together. Knead by hand or with a mixer for several minutes until the dough becomes soft, elastic, and just slightly tacky. It should pull away from the bowl but still feel plush.
- Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size. Properly risen dough will feel airy and leave a gentle indentation when pressed lightly.
2️⃣ Form the Rolls
- Roll out the risen dough on a floured surface into a rectangle. Aim for even thickness so the rolls bake uniformly.
- Spread the softened butter over the surface. Sprinkle the brown sugar evenly, then dust the cinnamon across the entire rectangle. As the butter melts during baking, it will bind the filling into a sweet, fragrant layer.
- Roll the dough tightly into a log, starting from the long side. Keep the roll snug but not overly compressed so the layers remain distinct.
- Slice the log into 2–3 cm wide pieces using a sharp knife. Place them onto a parchment-lined baking sheet or dish, spacing them slightly apart. As they bake, they will expand and press gently against one another, forming soft pull-apart edges.
