Spicy Calamari Pasta Fra Diavolo

🛒 Ingredients (Serves 4)

For the Pasta 🍝

  • 12 oz (340 g) spaghetti or linguine
  • Salted water for boiling

For the Fra Diavolo Sauce 🌶️🧄

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil 🫒
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced 🧄
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped 🧅
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes 🌶️ (adjust to taste)
  • 1 can (14 oz / 400 g) crushed tomatoes 🍅
  • ½ cup dry white wine 🍷
  • 1 lb (450 g) calamari, cleaned and sliced into rings, tentacles included 🦑
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste 🧂
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped 🌿
  • Juice of ½ lemon 🍋

Optional Garnish 🧀

  • Grated Parmesan cheese (sparingly—optional, as traditional Fra Diavolo typically omits cheese)
