Step 1: Season and Cook the Steak
- Pat the steak dry with paper towels. Season both sides with salt and pepper.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat.
- Sear the steak for 3–5 minutes per side, depending on thickness and desired doneness (135°F / 57°C for medium-rare).
- Transfer steak to a plate, cover loosely with foil, and let rest for 5–10 minutes. Then slice thinly against the grain.
Step 2: Assemble the Salad
- In a large salad bowl or individual plates, layer mixed greens, avocado slices, cherry tomatoes, red onion, cucumber, and cheese (if using).
- Top with the sliced steak.
