Instructions:
Make the Caramel:
In a small saucepan, heat the sugar over medium heat. Stir constantly until it melts and turns into a golden-brown caramel (about 5-7 minutes). ![]()
Quickly pour the caramel into a 9-inch round baking dish, tilting to coat the bottom evenly. Set aside to cool and harden.
Prepare the Flan Mixture:
In a blender, combine the eggs, condensed milk, evaporated milk, vanilla extract, and salt. Blend until smooth and creamy. ![]()

Pour the mixture over the hardened caramel in the baking dish.
Bake the Flan:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Place the baking dish in a larger roasting pan and fill the pan with hot water until it reaches halfway up the sides of the baking dish (this is a bain-marie or water bath). ![]()
Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until the flan is set but still slightly jiggly in the center.
