Instructions:
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
Mix dry ingredients – In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
Combine wet ingredients – In another bowl, beat eggs, milk, coffee, oil, and vanilla. Gradually mix into dry ingredients until smooth.
Bake the cake – Divide the batter evenly into the pans and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Let cakes cool completely.
Prepare the frosting – Beat butter until creamy. Add powdered sugar, cocoa powder, vanilla, and heavy cream. Beat until smooth and fluffy.
Assemble the cake – Spread frosting over one cake layer, place the second layer on top, and frost the entire cake.
